The Riddells Creek Men’s Shed is a little different from most Men’s Sheds—we’re currently a Men’s Shed without a shed!
While we continue working towards securing a permanent home through grants and a long-term site lease, our members are already making a positive difference within our community. We meet regularly, enjoy each other’s company, share skills and ideas, and lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed.
One recent example was a community working bee at the home of one of our members, Peter, who is undergoing treatment for cancer. With his treatment leaving him too weak to establish his new garden, our members came together for a day of digging, planting, mulching and landscaping. Thanks to many willing hands—and generous donations of plants, soil and fertiliser from Jordie at the Riddells Creek Nursery—we transformed Peter’s garden in a single day.
The project was a wonderful example of what the Men’s Shed is all about: mates helping mates, neighbours supporting neighbours, and a community coming together to make a real difference. The story was later featured in the Midland Express, highlighting the generosity and community spirit of everyone involved.
As we continue our journey towards establishing a permanent Men’s Shed in Riddells Creek, we remain committed to building friendships, supporting our members, contributing to local community projects, and creating opportunities for men to connect, learn, and work together.
After all, a Men’s Shed isn’t defined by the building it’s in—it’s defined by the people who make it such a special place.
